1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed George Bromley in 1906, creating this portrait on a glass plate negative measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe maintained a portrait studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, working in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio, including several thousand studio portraits of which this is one.

The record does not identify who Bromley was or what brought him to Genthe's studio that year.
