This photograph shows Carolyn Gordon Worthley wearing her wedding dress in Fowler, California, around 1911. The photographer's name was not recorded.

Fowler is a town in Tulare County, which sits in California's San Joaquin Valley. The valley became a farming region settled heavily in the later nineteenth century and dependent on irrigated agriculture.

The photograph comes from the Tulare County library's local history collection. That collection holds photographs largely of ordinary residents, families, schools and businesses rather than public figures, preserving a record of daily life in the valley's communities during the settlement and agricultural development period.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
