1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed this portrait in 1906. The negative, a glass plate measuring five by seven inches, is held in the Library of Congress collection.

Genthe maintained a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, working in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio.

The record identifies the sitter only as "Coxhead girl." No further information about her identity or her connection to Genthe's studio has been catalogued. The archive preserves the negative alongside several thousand other studio portraits from Genthe's San Francisco and later New York periods.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
