1 transparency : color.

This color transparency was created by Alfred T. Palmer in 1939. The record identifies the subjects as M-4 tank crews photographed at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

The attribution presents a puzzle. The M-4 Sherman tank was not developed until 1941 and did not enter production until 1942. Fort Knox served as a training center for armored forces, but what vehicle these crews actually operated in 1939 remains unclear from the available documentation. The discrepancy between the date and the tank designation cannot be resolved from the record alone.
