Public-domain historical photograph of Lee Hill and his wife Anna from Porterville, California, circa 1905. Vintage portrait from Porterville Library collection.

Lee and Anna Hill were photographed around 1905 in Porterville, a town in Tulare County in California's San Joaquin Valley. The photographer is not recorded.

The portrait comes from the Porterville Library collection. Tulare County sits in a farming region that saw heavy settlement in the late nineteenth century, and the county library holds a substantial collection of local history photographs documenting ordinary residents, families, schools and businesses from the area.

The photograph was made publicly available through California Revealed, a statewide programme that digitises material from California libraries, archives, museums and historical societies.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
