Portrait of Mrs. Maurice Kremer, née Matilda Newmark, daughter of Joseph Newmark (1799-1881). Her husband Maurice Kremer was the co-founder of Los Angeles' first department store Lazard and Kremer Co. Mrs. Kremer is photographed from the waist up in profile, her body facing forward as she looks slightly to the left. She has her hair in an updo and wears a dark Victorian-era dress with a white lace jabot and pendant.
