This portrait depicts Kara (née Michael Steiner), known as "The King of Jugglers". Kara is recognized as the originator of the 'gentleman' juggling act. He performed at the San Francisco Orpheum, the first Orpheum theater in the country and then the Orpheum circuit. As the photographers of this image were based in San Francisco, this was likely taken when he was performing in San Francisco at the Orpheum. Box 1 Folder 12
