This portrait of the Cragg Brothers, an acrobatic troupe, is autographed to John Morrisey. The Cragg brothers were an acrobatic troupe that performed in Victorian Britain and toured around the world. The Cragg Brothers performed at the San Francisco Orpheum, the first Orpheum theater in the country and then the Orpheum Circuit. As the photographer, Frederick Bushnell, was based in San Francisco, the photograph was likely taken while the brothers were in the city on tour. Founder of one of the major West Coast photographic studio chains, Frederick Bushnell was originally an employee of Theodore C. Marceau. Bushnell established a chain of franchises, hiring photographers for the San Francisco studio, training them, and setting them up in various West Coast cities. Box 1 Folder 8
