This cyanotype print shows two women in profile posing for a portrait. The image captures the mechanics of photography itself: the photographer and camera are visible, along with an assistant holding a white tablecloth to reflect light onto the subjects. A mirror in the scene reveals additional people present in the room.

The photograph is attributed to Frances Benjamin Johnston and dated to 1890. The identities of the two women being photographed, the photographer visible in the frame, and the assistant are not recorded.
