1 negative : nitrate ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed a woman identified only as Miss Victors in 1920, producing this portrait negative on nitrate film measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style and maintained a studio in New York during this period, having moved there from San Francisco in 1911. The Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio after his death in 1942.

The archive record provides no first name, occupation, or other details about the subject. The negative survives as part of a collection that includes several thousand studio portraits alongside hundreds of dance photographs and images of San Francisco's Chinatown.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
