About this photograph
Arnold Genthe photographed Mr. C. Baker in 1906. The portrait was taken on a glass plate negative measuring 5 by 7 inches.
Genthe maintained a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, working in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio. The collection includes several thousand studio portraits alongside his other photographic work.
The record provides no further information about the sitter's identity beyond the name Baker and the initial C.
