1 transparency : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed a man identified only as C. Baker in 1906. The portrait was recorded as a glass transparency measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe kept a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911. This portrait falls midway through that period. The Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio after his death in 1942.

The record gives no further information about the sitter. The use of a glass transparency suggests this was a studio portrait, part of Genthe's commercial practice alongside the street photography and artistic work for which he became known.
