1 negative : nitrate ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed Mary Hawkins in 1920. The portrait exists as a nitrate negative measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style and maintained a studio in New York during this period, having relocated from San Francisco in 1911. The Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio after his death in 1942.

The archive record provides no further details about the sitter or the circumstances of the sitting.
