1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed Miss Kaskell in his studio in 1911, the year he closed his San Francisco practice and relocated to New York. The portrait survives as a 5 x 7 inch glass plate negative.

Genthe worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio, including several thousand studio portraits alongside his better-known work documenting San Francisco's Chinatown and dancers.

The record gives no further information about the sitter. The surname appears in Genthe's files from this period, but without additional context the photograph remains simply a formal portrait from the final months of his San Francisco studio.
