Forms part of a group of field materials documenting Oddrun Sigurasson performing Icelandic songs on May 25, 1938, collected by Sidney Robertson Cowell in San Francisco, California.

This portrait documents Oddrun Sigurasson, who performed Icelandic songs in San Francisco on May 25, 1938. Sidney Robertson Cowell made the photograph as part of the W.P.A. California Folk Music Project.

Cowell directed this project between 1938 and 1940, recording and photographing traditional musicians across Northern California. She deliberately worked across the state's immigrant communities rather than focusing on a single tradition. The project's materials include portraits of performers from Armenian, Icelandic, Italian, Portuguese, Mexican, Irish, and Serbian backgrounds.

The recordings and photographs from the project are held by the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
