1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed Miss Enid Gregg in 1908. The portrait was captured on a glass negative measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe maintained a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, working in the soft-focus pictorialist style. This negative was created during that San Francisco period, two years before he relocated to New York.

The glass negative is part of a collection of roughly 20,000 items the Library of Congress acquired from Genthe's unclaimed studio after his death in 1942. While the collection includes several thousand studio portraits like this one, it also contains extensive documentation of other subjects from across his four-decade career.

No further details about Miss Gregg appear in the archive record.
