1 negative : safety ; 4 x 5 in.

A 1932 photograph by Theodor Horydczak showing Art Brown with his family seated on a couch. The image was made on a safety negative, a type of film stock less prone to degradation than earlier cellulose nitrate materials.

Horydczak worked as a commercial photographer in Washington, D.C., and his photographs now form a named collection at the Library of Congress. Safety film became more widely adopted by commercial studios during this period as a stable alternative to flammable nitrate stock.

The archive record provides no further information about Art Brown, his family members, or the circumstances under which the portrait was made.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
