1 negative : safety ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed an unidentified woman named Miss Davis in 1932. The portrait was captured on a 5 x 7 inch safety film negative.

Genthe worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style and maintained a New York studio through the 1940s, having relocated there from San Francisco in 1911. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio. The collection includes several thousand studio portraits alongside his other photographic work.

The record provides no further information about the sitter's identity, the circumstances of the sitting, or the purpose of the portrait.
