1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed David Belasco in 1909, producing this glass-plate negative measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe maintained a portrait studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, working in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio. The collection includes several thousand studio portraits alongside hundreds of other subjects.

The record identifies the subject as David Belasco but provides no further information about him. The negative was created during Genthe's San Francisco period, three years before he relocated his practice to New York.
