1 negative : nitrate ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed the Herrendean sisters in 1922. The negative is nitrate, measuring 5 by 7 inches, and is held by the Library of Congress.

Genthe worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style. He kept a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, then moved to New York, where he continued working into the 1940s. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio. The collection includes several thousand studio portraits alongside other photographic work.
