1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed a subject identified as Nichols, Bishop in 1907. The portrait survives as a glass negative measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe kept a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, working in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio, including several thousand studio portraits made over four decades of practice.

The archive record does not indicate whether Bishop is a surname or a title, nor does it provide further information about the sitter's identity or the circumstances of the sitting.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
