1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed Lilias Wheeler in 1907. The portrait was made on a glass-plate negative measuring five by seven inches.

Genthe maintained a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, working in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio, including several thousand studio portraits like this one.

The record identifies the subject as Miss Wheeler but provides no further information about her. The negative survives as part of the Genthe collection at the Library of Congress.
