1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.

This glass plate negative documents a portrait session at Arnold Genthe's San Francisco studio in 1907. The sitter was identified by the photographer as Mrs. Leon Roos.

Genthe worked in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911, maintaining a portrait practice in the soft-focus pictorialist style. The Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio after his death in 1942.

The negative measures five by seven inches, a standard commercial portrait format of the period. Beyond the name and date recorded by Genthe, no further information about the sitter has been preserved in the archive.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
