1 negative : safety ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed the Sommaripa children in 1929. The negative was made on safety film and measures five by seven inches.

Genthe maintained a portrait studio in New York during this period, having relocated there from San Francisco in 1911. He worked in a soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio.

The archive record provides no further details about the children or the circumstances of the sitting.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
