1 negative : safety ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed the Sommaripa children in 1929. The negative, measuring 5 by 7 inches, is held in the Library of Congress collection.

Genthe worked in a soft-focus pictorialist style. He maintained a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911 before relocating to New York, where he continued working into the 1940s.

After Genthe's death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio. This photograph is part of that collection, which includes several thousand studio portraits alongside images of San Francisco's Chinatown, dance photographs, and autochromes.

The record provides no further detail about the Sommaripa children or the circumstances of the sitting.
