About this photograph
Arnold Genthe photographed Elitia Doř in 1934. The portrait was captured on a 5 x 7 inch safety negative.
Genthe worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style. He maintained a studio in San Francisco from 1896 to 1911 before relocating to New York, where he continued photographing into the 1940s. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio.
The collection includes several thousand studio portraits alongside other bodies of work. This portrait of Elitia Doř forms part of that studio archive.
