1 negative : nitrate ; 5 x 7 in.

This studio portrait was taken by Arnold Genthe in 1921. The original negative is held by the Library of Congress as part of the Genthe collection.

Genthe worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style and maintained a studio in New York during this period, having moved there from San Francisco in 1911. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio.

The archive record identifies the sitter only as Grace, with no further biographical details provided. The negative is a 5 x 7 inch nitrate format, typical of professional studio work of the era.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
