1 negative : nitrate ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed an unidentified woman identified only as Miss Pruyn in 1921. The portrait was captured on a 5 x 7 inch nitrate negative.

Genthe maintained a studio in New York during this period, having relocated there from San Francisco in 1911. He worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style. After his death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio, including several thousand studio portraits of which this negative forms part.

The record provides no further information about the sitter's first name, age, or reason for sitting for the portrait.
