1 negative : nitrate ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed a woman identified only as Miss Sharps in 1919. By that year Genthe had relocated his studio from San Francisco to New York, where he continued working in the soft-focus pictorialist style that characterized his practice.

The photograph survives as a 5 x 7 inch nitrate negative. After Genthe's death in 1942, the Library of Congress acquired approximately 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio. This portrait is one of several thousand studio portraits in that collection.

The record provides no first name, occupation, or other details about the sitter. The circumstances of the sitting and Miss Sharps's connection to Genthe's studio remain unrecorded.
