1 negative : nitrate ; 5 x 7 in.

Arnold Genthe photographed a woman identified only as Miss Williamson in 1919. The negative, held by the Library of Congress, measures five by seven inches and was made on nitrate film.

By this date Genthe had relocated from San Francisco to New York, where he maintained a studio and worked in the soft-focus pictorialist style. The Library of Congress later acquired roughly 20,000 items from his unclaimed studio after his death in 1942.

The archive provides no first name, occupation, or circumstances for the sitting. Studio portrait sessions of this period typically documented social position or marked personal milestones, but the record offers no indication of what brought Miss Williamson to Genthe's studio or what became of the portrait afterward.

Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
