Historical Portrait
Strindberg, Mrs., portrait photograph

Archive record
1 negative : glass ; 5 x 7 in.
About this photograph
Arnold Genthe photographed an unidentified Mrs. Strindberg in his studio in 1915. By that year Genthe had relocated from San Francisco to New York, where he continued to work in the soft-focus pictorialist style he had employed throughout his career.
The record provides no information about the sitter's identity beyond her married name. The 5 x 7 inch glass negative is part of a collection of roughly 20,000 items the Library of Congress acquired from Genthe's unclaimed studio after his death in 1942.
Compiled from the catalogue record and reference notes on the formats and events involved. The archive record above is the primary source.
